#FAMILY VACATIONS: THEN AND NOW

A view from our 4 bedroom Condo! God blessed us in such a mighty way. We were reminded of the trips we were able to take. Some were included in our journey one year to pick up my oldest sister from college in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I remember my brother Jeffery and I playing the typical game of “That’s My Car”. We also counted the bridges because they were there. It was the station wagon with the reverse seat. Of course, that is where we sat because we were the youngest. 🚙 On one occasion I ended up with a bloodshot eye(Jeffery did it). We detoured via Montgomery, Ala on the way back, I think that was my first memory of staying in a Hotel-Holiday Inn and realizing how fun it was to jump on a hotel bed! 🙂 That detour allowed me to meet the sister and family of her stepdad, Mr. Tollie Glen Salter who adopted, help raise, and afforded her to attend Immaculate Conception High School. She also made a pit stop in Atlanta, well now I know it was Stone Mountain, Georgia. 🏔 We did not climb the mountain as I remembered. There were various reasons and one reason was that no one packed the proper shoes. Another also might have been that at one time my sister Gwen had fallen in the road right before the trip, leaving her with skinned knees, hands, and her side. There was always someone getting hurt here and there. 😂 We lived and enjoyed nature as a family. I am saying all this to say, here I was traveling all these years later, missing those ham sandwiches with cheese 🥪🥪warmed by the sun beaming through the car. We especially could not wait to dive into the car temperature chicken. 🍗🍗Last, the singing of just how many bottles of beer were on the wall? Here we were on our family trip in 2020, thinking and relishing in the memories of our family trips in 1971. We were missing our brothers/brother-in-law members that have passed on Terry, Jeffery, Fred and yes here I was fifty years later missing her AGAIN, MY MOTHER. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
B&B May Day or could have been Spring Formal
What were we doing? I know this was in the Boggs Academy Gym

  1. Good morning, again, Lisa, A joy to read! Did you stop a park or put a blanket on the ground somewhere to eat the ham and cheese sandwiches and the chicken or was the eating in the car? Keep writing!

  2. Everything is very open with a clear explanation of the challenges. It was truly informative. Your website is extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing. Barbette Bernie Sidonie
